South Wilford have started the football season with a blistering opening. Winning our first league game 10-0 and then emerging triumphant from the Karnival football competition. 24 teams from around the city competed. We won 3 of our group games and drew 2 giving us a place in the semi final.
A close game ensued but a clinical finish from Luke was enough to get us into the final against St Theresa's. The game was tight but the boys defended hard and just as it was looking like it would head to the dreaded penalties, Anthony popped up with a huge effort from half way which caught their keeper off guard and put us ahead. Josh then sealed the win in the dying seconds with a beautiful little flicked volley.
We now go onto the next round to represent the city and were the first ever recipients of the new Kilpin Cup.
Fantastic effort from everyone.
Come on you Yellows!
